Eastbound I-94 and northbound I-35E in St. Paul closed Sept. 5-8

ST. PAUL, Minn. —Motorists traveling through St. Paul this weekend will find portions of eastbound Interstate 94 and northbound Interstate 35E closed, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation. Beginning at 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5, through 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 8, eastbound I-94 will close between Highway 280 and I-35E. During the same time, northbound I-35E will close between Highway 5 and University Avenue.

During the closures, eastbound I-94 traffic will detour north on Highway 280, east on Highway 36 and south on I-35E. (Detour) Northbound I-35E motorists will travel east on I-494 and west on I-94. (Detour)

Additionally, Rondo Avenue will be closed between Rice St. and Marion St. from Sept. 8-12. The westbound I-94 Marion Street exit onto Rondo Avenue will also be closed during this time. Westbound I-94 and southbound I-35E traffic exiting toward Marion Ave. and Rondo St. will be directed to the 12th St. exit to Jackson St. to University Ave. to Western Ave. (Detour)

This summer and fall, the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) is repairing nine bridges over I-94 and I-35E in St. Paul with additional weekend closures of I-94 and partial bridge closures throughout the fall. All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather and schedule dependent and subject to change.
